“It is in the best interest of Nakai Theatre to be aware of, and properly manage, all potential and actual conflicts of interest. This policy is designed to help Directors (Board members), officers, employees and volunteers of Nakai to identify situations that present potential conflicts of interest and to provide Nakai with a procedure to appropriately manage conflicts in accordance with legal requirements and the goals of accountability and transparency in Nakai’s operations.”

“Nakai aims to create a work space where all collaborators feel safe and free from harassment, bullying, discrimination or passive aggressive behaviour. We aspire to work from liberation and anti-oppression frameworks in the studio, office and all interactions. Nakai recognizes the inherent dignity, worth and equality of every employee, contractor, Board member, volunteer and patron, and is committed to providing an environment free from unlawful discrimination and harassment. We emphasize impact over intent, maintaining right relations, proactive conflict resolution and preventing unsafe work behaviour from occuring in the first place.
The objectives of this policy are to:
Explain efforts Nakai makes to create a safe and respectful work environment;
Define harassment, discrimination and its various forms, including sexual harassment;
Provide guidance and process for Employees, Contractors, Officers, Volunteers and Supervisors in managing conflict, as well as occasions of harassment, bullying, or discrimination.
This policy applies to:
All workspaces where artists work under contract;
Extensions to formally contracted workspaces, as by Equity’s contracts; and
Any additional work-related spaces such as:
transportation and accommodation on tour;
engager-organized social events;
digital spaces, including email and other correspondence, and virtual events and meetings;
other events related to work;”
